26214 12V Fuel Shutoff Solenoid for Stanadyne Roosa Master DB2 Pumps
High-quality German-made replacement 26214 fuel shutoff solenoid for many 12-volt Stanadyne and Roosa Master mechanical diesel injection pumps.
This is the high-force, energized-to-run solenoid commonly used inside the governor top cover of automotive-style Stanadyne DB2 pumps. It is frequently found on Ford 6.9L and 7.3L IDI diesel engines, GM 6.2L diesels, mechanically injected 6.5L diesels, and other equipment using a compatible 12-volt pump.
This listing includes the 26214 solenoid, a replacement top cover gasket, and two terminal insulating washers. The gasket and insulators are important service parts because the injection pump top cover must be removed to replace the solenoid.

What Does the 26214 Shutoff Solenoid Do?
The 26214 solenoid controls fuel delivery inside the mechanical injection pump.
When the ignition switch is turned to the run position, the solenoid receives 12-volt power and pulls its shutoff arm into the run position. This allows the injection pump to deliver fuel to the injectors.
When the key is switched off, power is removed from the solenoid. The shutoff mechanism returns to the stop position and prevents the pump from delivering fuel, shutting down the engine.
Because the 26214 is an energized-to-run solenoid, a failed solenoid or loss of electrical power can cause an engine that cranks normally but will not start.
Common Signs of a Failed 26214 Solenoid
A weak, damaged, or failed injection pump shutoff solenoid may cause:
- Engine cranks but will not start
- No fuel reaching the injector lines
- No click from the injection pump when the key is switched on
- Intermittent starting
- Engine starts cold but will not restart when hot
- Unexpected stalling while the engine is running
- Engine continues running after the ignition is switched off
- Weak or inconsistent movement of the shutoff arm
- Burned or damaged solenoid windings
- A shorted electrical terminal at the injection pump top cover
These symptoms do not automatically prove that the solenoid has failed. A blown fuse, faulty ignition switch, bad relay, broken wire, poor ground, damaged terminal insulator, or internal injection pump problem can cause similar symptoms.
Quick Electrical Checks Before Ordering
Before replacing the solenoid, verify that the pump is receiving electrical power.
- Confirm the vehicle or equipment uses a 12-volt electrical system.
- Check for battery voltage at the injection pump shutoff terminal with the key in the run position.
- Inspect the wire connector and terminal for looseness, corrosion, or heat damage.
- Listen or feel for movement when power is applied. A working solenoid normally produces a noticeable click.
- Check that the injection pump and engine have a clean electrical ground.
If there is no voltage at the terminal, troubleshoot the vehicle wiring, fuse, ignition switch, relay, and related circuits before condemning the solenoid.
If correct voltage reaches the terminal but the solenoid does not move or will not remain in the run position, the internal solenoid may need replacement.
Where Is the Solenoid Located?
The 26214 solenoid is located inside the governor top cover of the Stanadyne or Roosa Master injection pump.
The electrical connection is visible externally as an insulated terminal stud passing through the top cover, but the solenoid coil and shutoff arm are underneath the cover.
This is different from an external thread-in fuel shutoff solenoid used on many CAV, Lucas, Delphi, Bosch VE, and other injection pumps.

Does This Kit Include the Top Cover Gasket?
Yes. This listing includes a replacement top cover gasket and two terminal insulating washers along with the 26214 solenoid.
The gasket seals the governor cover to the injection pump housing. The insulating washers help isolate the electrical terminal from the metal top cover.
Correct insulation is important. If the electrical terminal contacts the metal cover, it can short the shutoff circuit and prevent the solenoid from operating.
The listing does not include every screw, nut, grounding strap, or component that may be found in a complete Stanadyne solenoid mounting-hardware kit. Reuse serviceable original hardware or obtain the correct additional hardware for the particular pump when necessary.

How to Confirm Fitment

Installation Notes
- Disconnect battery power before opening the injection pump top cover.
- Clean dirt and loose debris from the entire top-cover area.
- Photograph the wire, lever, spring, and linkage positions before disassembly.
- Lift the top cover carefully so the governor linkage is not bent or disconnected unexpectedly.
- Compare the new solenoid arm and mounting position with the original.
- Install the terminal insulating washers in the correct original arrangement.
- Make sure the electrical terminal is completely insulated from the metal top cover.
- Remove all old gasket material without damaging the sealing surfaces.
- Install the included new top cover gasket.
- Reconnect the internal shutoff linkage exactly as originally installed.
- Before starting the engine, verify that the shutoff mechanism moves correctly with power applied and removed.
- After installation, inspect the top cover for fuel leakage.
- Confirm that the engine starts and shuts down normally.
Incorrect governor-cover or linkage installation can cause a no-start, failure to shut down, incorrect engine speed, or uncontrolled engine operation. If you are not familiar with the internal linkage of a Stanadyne DB2 pump, have the solenoid installed by a qualified diesel injection repair shop.

It’s at least twice as heavy and the arm doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall off when you compress it. You can’t really tell by the picture, but the gasket and insulators included are also high quality and worth using.
