Interstate-McBee replacement injector dust shield for old-style Allis-Chalmers diesel injector and nozzle holder assemblies.

This compressible foam-style dust shield replaces Allis-Chalmers part number 4025385 and AGCO reference number 74025385. It fits around the outside of the injector holder and helps prevent dirt, moisture, rust, and loose debris from collecting in the injector bore area.

This part may also be described as an injector dust seal, nozzle holder dust shield, injector holder seal, injector packing, or injection nozzle dirt shield.

What Does the Injector Dust Shield Do?

The 4025385 dust shield fits around the outside of the old-style Allis-Chalmers injector holder. Its compressible construction helps close the space around the holder and reduce the amount of dirt, moisture, rust, and loose debris that can collect inside the injector bore area.

These dust shields are commonly replaced when injectors are removed for nozzle service, cylinder head work, engine overhaul, or injector holder repair.

Old dust shields may become:

• Compressed or permanently flattened
• Brittle from age and engine heat
• Torn during injector removal
• Oil-soaked or deteriorated
• Partially disintegrated

Important: This Is Not the Injector Tip Sealing Washer

The 4025385 dust shield is not the copper sealing washer located beneath the injector nozzle or holder.

Depending on the engine and injector holder, the lower nozzle sealing gasket may be part number 4025150, 4378031, or another application-specific number. That lower gasket seals the injector against the cylinder head and combustion area.

The 4025385 is an external dust shield. It is not intended to stop combustion leakage, compression leakage, or fuel leakage from the injector tip.

If there is black carbon around the injector, combustion gas escaping from the injector bore, or damage to the lower sealing washer, inspect and replace the correct nozzle gasket in addition to the dust shields.

Old-Style Versus New-Style Allis-Chalmers Injector Holders

Allis-Chalmers used more than one injector holder and dust shield design. The two common dust shields are not interchangeable.
