This CAV / Lucas / Roto-Diesel DPA banjo bolt with bleed screw is used on select diesel injection pump applications. It installs at the pump outlet / return fitting location and provides a convenient air bleed point for priming and servicing the fuel system.

This fitting may also be called an air vent fitting, vent screw, air vent screw, vent screw assembly, fuel return bleed fitting, connection with drain, pump delivery purge fitting, or fuel outlet connector, depending on the catalog or application.

Instead of removing a fuel line to bleed air from the pump, the top bleed screw can be loosened to let trapped air escape. This can make priming, service work, and troubleshooting cleaner and more convenient.

This fitting uses a small internal check ball. During normal operation, the check ball helps seal the pump outlet / return passage. When the top bleed screw is loosened, the check ball lifts slightly and allows air and fuel to pass through the bleed point.
